About
Select Running Journal looks at recreational running from more than one angle: the shape of a route, the rhythm of a run, the history behind a familiar practice and the customs that gather around race day. It is for curious runners and readers who want to understand the activity without turning every run into a test.
What we cover
Our subjects include route choices, pacing as an everyday experience, running's past, race formats and the language and rituals around running. We favour topics a reader can explore at their own pace, with no special equipment or performance target required.
Who it is for
This is a publication for people who run, people thinking about running and people who simply enjoy learning how an activity works. You do not need to be training for an event or chasing a number to find something here.
How we approach it
We aim to make each piece clear, specific and useful to think with. We distinguish explanation from opinion, avoid treating one runner's preferences as universal, and keep advice within the bounds of general, non-professional information.
